Over the years Bushwise has developed close relationships with some of the most respected organisations, lodges, educational bodies and conservation groups in Africa. Our mission is to provide our students with the education, confidence and networks necessary to forge successful careers in the field guiding and hospitality industry. Our list of partners / affiliations below provide extended opportunities to all Bushwise Students / Alumni.

The Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA)

FGASA is a non-profit organisation representing individual field guides, trackers and organisations involved in offering professional field guiding services to members of the public. FGASA aims to promote a culture of professional guiding based on a strong ethical well-informed, safety conscious approach to provide the visitor to the African bush with a pleasant and memorable experience.

Global Vision International (GVI)

GVI is one of the most well respected conservation organisations working in Africa today. Relying on volunteers to assist long term research and conservation projects all over Africa GVI supports over 150 programs and employs over 250 field staff. Many of Bushwise’s students have gone on to have work placements with GVI and some have forged successful long-term careers.

Colin Patrick Training

 
Owner Colin Patrick, is a FGASA Accredited training provider and assessor and is a Cybertracker and FGASA SKS DG Trainer and Evaluator. 
As a field guide he has achieved the top qualifications of scout, and he is passionate about teaching the signs that can be read from the tracks left by the creatures of the african bush to people.

 

Wildlife Campus

Wildlife Campus is an international online Virtual Campus offering a wide variety of Wildlife, Wildlife-related, Natural Science and EcoTourism Courses covering a spectacular diversity of life found on our planet and specifically on African Savannas. By completeting these courses online, you can receive a variety of industry recognised, endorsed and accredited qualifications or simply enjoy a deeeper understanding of the African wild and oceans. These courses can be a great pre-departure learning tool to get prepared for your course with Bushwise.

The Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve (GMPGR)

Bushwise carries out its practical training on Makalali Private Game Reserve a spectacular 26,000ha big five wilderness reserve in the Limpopo province. The Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve (GMPGR) is situated west of Kruger National Park and promises intimate wildlife encounters and an ideal training ground with its ‘Big Five’ - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo and other characteristic species are cheetah, giraffe, zebra and kudu.

SAYTC is a non-profit, membership-driven organization with the following objectives:

  • to market South Africa globally as a preferred youth tourism destination.  
  • to establish a professional youth tourism industry based upon accreditation and guidelines.
