¨Guiding is essentially about a genuine enjoyment and an honest appreciation of, and dedication to all the many faces nature has to offer us. It is indeed a privileged occupation. Imagine being paid to take people out into the wilds of Africa!"
An extract from the book 'A Guides guide to Guiding'- Garth Thompson
Bushwise has two campuses, one at the Mahlahla Game Lodge and one at the Garonga farmhouse, which forms part of Makalali Private Game reserve. Accommodation at either campus is comfortable, in an idyllic bush setting. Students will be placed at each selective campus according to numbers, merit/experience to ensure a balanced group.
Both campuses are based in the lowveld, in areas renowned for their biodiversity and 'dangerous game' reserves. All campuses traverse on big 5 reserves for practicals and have similar lecture facilities and resources needed for the course. They each have their own charm and difference, however the content of the course is the same, it is purely a location difference.
In both campuses you will have shared dormitory style accommodation. Both bases have shared ablutions, a Bushwise lecture room, all resources needed for the course, facilities such as a swimming pool for recreational use and access to internet. All meals are provided during the course (except during off-week periods) and there are laundry facilities available. Uniforms and linen are washed and ironed for you weekly.
Both campuses are approximately 50 minutes drive from Hoedspruit.
Group Size: max 16 students with approximately 1 staff member to every 5-8 students
