THE GREATER MAKALALI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Bushwise carries out its practical training on Makalali Private Game Reserve a spectacular 26,000ha Big five wilderness reserve in the Limpopo province. The Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve (GMPGR) is situated west of Kruger National Park and promises intimate wildlife encounters and an ideal training  ground with its ‘Big Five’ - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo and other characteristic species are cheetah, giraffe, zebra and kudu. Students spend 23 weeks receiving practical and academic training on campus and can choose to spend the final 23 weeks doing work experience at one of a number of lodges located in the Lowveld of South Africa, Namibia and East Africa.

Accommodation

Accommodation at either campus is comfortable in an idyllic bush setting. Rooms are shared and students have access to all basic facilities, a social area, swimming pool and full lecture facilities and resources. Both bases have electricity and access to internet and all meals are provided during the course semesters.To ensure outstanding quality and maximum individual attention, Bushwise allows a maximum group size of 16 students per campus.

Students will be placed at each selective campus according to numbers and merit/experience to ensure a balanced group. The campuses each have their own charm and differences, however the content of the course is exactly the same, it is purely a location difference.

Facilities

Juice, tea and coffee are provided on the course. A laundry service is provided weekly for uniforms and bed linen. Access to the laundry facilities is provided for personal washing.

Bushwise staff at each campus consists of a Senior instructor, instructors, cook and cleaning lady. Staff stay on the campuses with the students during the semesters.
