Selati Campus

Bushwise Selati Campus

This campus hosts our IFGA Professional Safari Guide Short Course - 2 months.

The Selati campus is located inside the Selati Game Reserve, a vast, protected wilderness in South Africa’s Limpopo province. This Big Five reserve spans nearly 28,000 hectares and is home to over 50 species of mammals, including elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

Here, you’ll experience true immersion in the bush. The camp is unfenced and off-grid, set along the banks of the Selati River and surrounded by the sounds, sights, and smells of the wild. It's a setting designed for practical learning, deep focus, and an authentic guiding lifestyle.

This is where classroom theory meets real-life application. From the moment you arrive, you'll be living and learning in the same landscape you're being trained to interpret, gaining firsthand experience in tracking, wildlife behaviour, terrain navigation, and more.

The Selati Game Reserve itself is rich in biodiversity and natural beauty, with sweeping plains, granite outcrops, and a wide range of habitats that mirror many of the top reserves across southern Africa. You’ll also be exposed to complex conservation work and the daily realities of life in a working reserve.

Outside your training, there are plenty of adventure opportunities nearby. With Kruger National Park just over an hour away, and destinations like Blyde River Canyon, Dullstroom, and Magoebaskloof Forest within reach, there’s no shortage of inspiration for future explorations.

Facilities

Accommodation at Selati is comfortable, practical, and deeply connected to the surrounding bush.

You’ll stay in shared tented rooms, each with two single beds, a shelf or cupboard, and access to communal bathrooms, with gas-heated showers and toilets. The camp is fully solar-powered, giving you just what you need while keeping your footprint light.

All essential facilities are within walking distance – the classroom, kitchen, laundry area, and social spaces are all close together and easily accessible. Meals are prepared on site and shared around the outdoor dining area or fire pit.

There’s a laundry service included for uniforms and linen, and you’ll have access to a washing machine, ironing board, and detergent for your personal laundry.

Wi-Fi is available in limited areas around the camp, and Vodacom or MTN SIM cards are recommended for any additional network coverage.
