Lone Tree Wilderness Camp

Tswehe Wildlife Reserve

Lone Tree Wilderness Camp is the campus for a 10-day Botswana experience on the IFGA Professional Safari Guide Course (6/12 months).

Students come here to step into a completely different guiding environment. The Tuli Block is open, rugged, and expansive, with wide bushveld, rocky sandstone ridges, and dry riverbeds that stretch across the landscape. With fewer dense thickets than many South African reserves, it offers long-distance visibility, making it an ideal setting to track movement, read terrain, and understand how wildlife behaves in a new ecosystem.

This experience is designed to build adaptability. Students apply their guiding skills in a new country and a new biome, learning how conditions shift across borders and what that means for tracking, interpretation, and guiding style.

The camp sits inside Tswehe Wildlife Reserve in Botswana’s Tuli Block. The reserve feels open and spacious, with wide bushveld, rocky sandstone ridges, and dry riverbeds that shape the landscape. It’s less dense than many South African reserves, so you often get long views across the terrain and can see movement from a distance.

Accommodation is in tented units placed within the bush. Each unit has beds, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and a deck that looks out into the surrounding landscape.

Shared spaces bring everyone together during the day. There’s an open kitchen and dining area for meals, along with seating areas and a fire space under an old Nyala Berry tree that forms the centre of camp life.
